Simba was the first Rottweiler who changed everything for us.

Anyone who has owned one special dog knows that feeling people talk about when they say life is never quite the same again. Simba was that dog. He had the kind of presence that stays with you long after they are gone.

After losing him, the grief was hard enough that even though his semen had been preserved, I was never fully sure I would use it. Part of me felt comfort just knowing it existed. Another part felt that perhaps he should be left to rest in peace.

Years later, when the decision was finally made to use that preserved semen, it was not because he had been forgotten. It was because he had never left us.

His pedigree tied back to historic lines with Rothgar influence and notable imports, but the real reason he mattered was simpler than that. He was a deeply loved dog who left a permanent mark on our lives.

The litter that later came from him was one of the most meaningful experiences we have ever had with the breed. In that sense, Simba remained the foundation of Pride Rock long after his own time with us had ended.

Preserving the family jewel: I knew back when I first got Simba he was a special dog. That’s why I collected his semen; it was reassuring knowing it was there all these years. Simba passed away in my arms 10 March 2008, he was 12 1/2 years old.

Having the foresight to freeze Simba's semen - we are introducing a U.K. line that notably includes U.K. Import NZ Ch. Upend Gallant Zeberdee attributed to Simba’s strong head and magnificent body with our baby girl Horowai, Simba had a superb temperament at the Central Rottweiler Club he was the highest scoring obedience dog the club had at the time, scoring 97 ½ out of 100 in Grade 3 proving to be a highly intelligent dog.

The trainers offered to go with me to competition, while I enjoyed my time at the CRC, working as an IT Consultant doesn't afford me the time.

​

A fun story at the CRC - one of the trainers was talking with me before I took Simba into the ring to heal, the trainer used alternative words like "away you go" so I could tell Simba to Heal without him leaving his mark, at the end of our conversation the trainer said "away you go" and away Simba went, this was an example of this intelligence, he was not only listing to all the commands but also listening to our conversations,

According to the Breeder Simba was the character of the litter, while all the other puppies were lying around in the Sun, Simba was running back and forth with Socks, Shoes and anything else he could get a hold of.
