Maru — The Next Chapter
After losing the four Rottweilers who had shaped our lives for so many years, welcoming another puppy into our home was not an easy decision.
Maru represents the next chapter in the Pride Rock story.
His name carries the sense of continuity and completion — not replacement, but continuation. He is his own dog, with his own character and path, but he also arrived because of everything that came before him.
Maru has brought new life back into the house and reminded us why the Rottweiler breed has always meant so much to us.

Maru

Maru is the newest chapter in the Pride Rock story.

After losing Atawhai, Horowai, Mac, and Kiara within a relatively short period, we were left with a kind of quiet that only people who have lived closely with dogs really understand. We did not want to replace them, because that is never what a new dog does. What we wanted, when the time was right, was to let that love continue somewhere.

That is what Maru means to us.

The name carries a sense of wholeness and continuation - not replacing the dogs we lost, but carrying that love forward in a new circle. He is his own dog, with his own personality and path, but he is also here because of everything the others gave us.

Although his first days included the usual settling-in adjustments and a vet check to make sure we were on top of everything, he has quickly become brighter, more playful, and more at home. He is already darting around with confidence and giving us that wonderful sense that life in the house has changed again.

Maru is the focus of Pride Rock moving forward. Through him we want to share everyday life, growth, character, and the joy of starting again with a young Rottweiler after a very hard chapter.
